Roberta Grace (Grohe) Bennett of Fishers Indiana passed away on December 9, 2021 at the age of 85, marking her long-awaited heavenly reunion with her beloved husband, Robert Bennett, her parents Donald Arthur and Dorothy Grace (Marker) Grohe, her brother Donald Leroy Grohe, her step-daughter Lisa Muegge, her grandson SGT Joshua Myers, and countless friends and family members who preceded her in death.
Roberta was born on December 3rd, 1936 in Akron Ohio, was a 1954 graduate of Magodore High School and, received her associate’s degree from Kent State University before beginning a long career with Shell Oil company as an office manager. This role took her all over the country — living in Akron, Chicago, and Houston before she left Shell Oil and joined Robert Bennett as a business partner in RRB Plastics and moved to Indiana after their marriage on October 16th, 1982.
Roberta and Robert were inseparable and traveled the country for business and pleasure until Robert’s retirement, and she cared for him dearly through health challenges until his passing in 2010. Throughout her life and in the years to follow, Roberta enjoyed connecting with her sister Dorothy Carney and spending time with her step-children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Roberta loved to sew and had a taste for the finer things in life. She looked forward to strolls with her family in the park behind her home, she loved reminiscing about her travels, enjoyed her dogs, collecting frog trinkets, enjoyed listening to music, and had a witty sense of humor and incredible knack for conversation. She was a strong supporter of veterans throughout her life.
She is dearly missed by her family and friends—she is survived by her sister Dorothy (Grohe) Carney, her step-children and their spouses Linda (Bennett) and Larry Myers, Laura Brown, and Jeff Muegge, her grandchildren and their spouses Rachel (Myers) and Josh Smith, Jacob and Jennifer Myers, Victoria (Swift) and Andy Luchesse, Ashley Swift, Aimee (Swift) and Chris Rohlfing, Joel and Jessica Hungate, Nathan and Raylene Hungate, A.J. Muegge, and her 11 great-grandchildren and three nephews.
