Robert Witham, age 76, of Irvington, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. Robert Gene Witham was born on September 11, 1939, in Renwick to Ralph and Agnes (Pfeffer) Witham.
He attended Algona Schools. On July 12, 1959 Bob was united in marriage to Virginia Mae Helmers. Bob was a proud American farmer. He also worked at UBC for 12 years. Bob thoroughly enjoyed the people he worked with and valued their friendships. Bob’s faith was not confined to a denomination but he had a strong relationship with Jesus.
He loved to spend time with his family. Bob most enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren to fish. He also loved gardening and sharing his bounty with everyone. Bob enjoyed reading anything he could find and was always good to share a story of his own. He was a true definition of a people person and could carry a conversation with anyone.
Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia of Irvington; sons Mike (Annie) Witham of Charles City and Mark (Robin) Witham of Hiawatha; daughters Valerie (Steve) Harris of Plainfield, Illinois and Sheila (Jason) Etherington of Charles City; twenty grandchildren; (Michael, Rachel, Cory, Kaycee, Nick, Tara, Adam, Whitney, Kadmiel, Alexia, Phoenix, Steven, Joshua, Faith, Hannah, Grace, Jesse, Sydney, Jonathan, Shae) seven great grandchildren; (Summer, Laney, Brodey, Lyla, Tyson, Ava, Kai) sisters Geraldine (Daryl) Gaedke of Irvington and Linda (Tom) Lang of Clarksgrove, Minnesota; his very best friend Orie (Addie) Shipler of Fort Collins, Colorado; side kick Pat Marti of Minnesota and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David Witham and Richard Witham; sister Elisabeth Bjorklund and beloved dog, Rufus.
