Turner, Bill (Robert Wilburn), 79, died on Saturday, July 9, 2016. He was a native of Panama City, Florida, a graduate of Bay High class of 1955, attended Gulf Coast Jr. College and was Florida Gator since 1948. He proudly served in the Navy from 1955-1959 on the USS Firedrake AE. 14, as a Fire Control Technician and traveled the Pacific Ocean. He often said he sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge 27 times and never over it. 50 years later on a trip with Connie, he crossed it two times and sailed under it 2 more times. Many of their best trips were to Firedrake reunions which have been held in 10 different states. He worked at Lynn Haven Country Club Golf Course and Cook Whitehead Ford in Panama City, FL. He moved to Birmingham to marry Connie and worked at Roebuck Volkswagen and Roebuck Mazda. He was a member of Irondale United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men. He was predeceased by his parents, James Henry Turner Sr. and Mary Ann Smith Turner, his brothers, James Henry Turner, Jr. and wife Beverly and Donald Frederick Turner and wife Linda. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Connie Graham Turner, children, son John Charles Turner and wife Peggy, and daughter Laura Ann Turner, one sister Dr. Nancy Ann Turner, PhD, and brothers John David Turner and wife Sandra and Charles Edward Turner and wife Debbie. He is also survived by many special cousins, nieces, and nephews.
