Robert Clifford Whinery “Clifford” 84, of Hobbs, New Mexico passed away, December 22, 2022, in Hobbs, NM.
Clifford was born in Socorro, New Mexico to John “Snooks” Robert Whinery & Beatrice Whinery. He was a 1957 graduate of Hobbs High School.
Clifford is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Whinery; parents, John and Beatrice Whinery; His brother: Dan Whinery; his son, Laike Whinery; and grandson, Josh Fulkerson
Clifford is survived by three daughters, Roberta Henderson of Hobbs NM; Pennie Fulkerson of Elgin OK; Suzy Kirby of Cartwright, OK; one son, Clifton Whinery of Ypsilanti MI; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
His family was the most important part of life to him. Clifford was a very loving and caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Clifford was always thinking of the needs of his family and was the first to offer a loving hug. He will be missed dearly by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Clifford served in the Army during the Vietnam war, before serving as a Lieutenant for the New Mexico State Police Mounted Patrol, where he received many accommodations including numerous for successful rescues. After leaving the Mounted Patrol, Clifford obtained his Master Electricians License where he worked for K&S Electric. After his stent in the electrician field, Clifford went to work for Hobbs Gas Company, where he retired. After retirement Clifford went back to work for Craig Enterprises, for many years, before retiring again.
