Robert Webster, 89, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, June 22, 2009. Born in Peterhead, Scotland, he resided in Jersey City, before moving to Hazlet 42 years ago. He was employed as a Jersey City Fireman for 32 years, retiring in 1980. He proudly served his country in the Army during WWII in the Phillipines, receiving the Soldiers Medal for rescuing a fellow soldier from drowning. The Soldier's Medal for Valor is awarded to any person of the Armed Forces of the United States, while serving in any capacity with the Army of the United States, distinguished himself or herself by heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy.
Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose O’Connor Webster; his children and their spouses; Robert and Kathleen Webster of Sayreville; Rosemary and Jim Johnson of Wall; Brian and Judy Webster of Morganville; Timothy and Susan Webster of Holmdel; Patricia and Bill Gallivan of Waretown; Michael and Andrea Webster of Wall and Pamela and Mark Sidoti of Greenlawn, NY; 13 grandchildren, Christopher and Stephanie Azzari; Tracey and Derek Cleary; Jaime and Christopher Senard; Michael Gallivan; Brendan Gallivan; Kaileigh Gallivan; James Webster, Victoria Webster; Grace Webster; Nick Sidoti; Luke Sidoti; Steven Sidoti; Isabella Sidoti and a great grandson, Hudson Christopher Senard.
