Robert Wayne Fannin, 81, of Columbia, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Mill Creek Village in Columbia. Bob was born December 28, 1935 in Muncie, IN, to Christopher and Elizabeth (Ward) Fannin.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the end of the Korean War and at the beginning of the Vietnam War; receiving an honorable discharge. Prior to retirement he was the Plant Manager for Associated Electric at Thomas Hill. He was a member of the Lion’s Club in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and the American Legion in Arkansas.
Bob married Kay Ellan Risk on February 6, 1954 in Muncie, IN, and she preceded him in death on October 28, 2015. Also preceding him in death were his parents, his step-father Merrill Cleavenger, a sister Marjorie Snyder, brother Dewey Ralph Fannin and a brother who died in infancy.
Survivors include his children, Robert “Robbie” Fannin, Jr. and wife Donna of Columbia, Tommy Fannin and wife Janet of Moberly, Joe Fannin and wife Lisa of St. Louis, MO, Lori Alicea and husband Alberto of Columbia, Dan Fannin and wife Andrea of Springfield, MO; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters Ruth Richmond and husband Richard and Dorothy Hart all of Muncie, IN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bob loved to hunt, golf, fish, play cards, cribbage. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals, and enjoyed spending time with his family.
