On July 16, 2006, Robert W. Painter passed on. Robert was a good man who was loved by many. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Shelby Painter; his dear children, Mary Ellen Hopkin and Darlene Fay; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Robert was preceeded in death by his dear sons, Robert Franklin and Curtis William Painter. Robert was born in Front Royal, Virginia in 1929. He resided in Glen Burnie, Maryland for over forty years. Robert was a member of the U.S. Army which he joined in 1949.
During his service, Robert earned many awards which include the Silver Star, the Purple Heart, a Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal with Japan clasp, the National Defense Service Medal, a Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars, a United Nations Service Medal, an Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII and the Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar. He was then a chemical operator at FMC Corporation for twenty-eight years. Robert was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and DAV. He had many hobbies. He enjoyed working on cars, working in his yard and listening to both country and christian music. Robert will be missed by many people.
