Robert W Horne, 80, of Spring Valley, IL, died Monday surrounded by his family, after a five-month battle with cancer.
Loving husband of Nancy (Laflamme) Horne, beloved father of Wendy Rodriguez, Trudy Clesowich, Darlene Jay, Marlene Murr, George Galeucia (Vivian), and Sue Kanthak (John). He is also survived by 7 nieces, 10 nephews, and several cousins. He also will be missed by his 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Sanford, ME to Roland and Louise Horne, Robert was a graduate of Sanford High School and a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked in the nuclear industry as a manager of safety and quality control.
A master woodworker, Robert created many pieces of fine furniture and art beloved by his family and passed them down through generations. Robert was an early adopter of personal computers and an electronics enthusiast. A lover of classical music, he played the trombone in his high school band. He was predeceased by his brother, Roland (Roy) Horne, Jr.
