Robert V. Caterson, 89, of Shelton, formerly of Monroe, died peacefully at St. Vincent’s Hospital on October 9, 2021.  Bob was the loving husband of the late Sara (Whipple) Caterson.  He was born December 1, 1931 in Manchester, Connecticut to the late Victor and Ebba (Ogren) Caterson.  As a post-war veteran, Bob proudly served his country in the US Army as a physical fitness instructor.

Bob was a skilled carpenter and as a member of over 50 years in the Carpenter’s Union, he worked for many companies over the years.  He was never idle and never said no to a project for family or friends; always ready and willing to tackle any challenge. Bob was a voracious reader, loved poetry, music, movies, and Broadway.  He was devoted to the barn work, and tirelessly continued to care for the horses. He was inquisitive, always learning new facts.  Bob would have been a great contestant for Jeopardy.  Most of all, Bob was a loving family man.  Sara, his late wife, would refer to him as her “Knight in Shining Armor”.  His enthusiasm and love will be so greatly missed by all who were blessed to know Bob.

Left to cherish his memory and honor his love and legacy are: his daughter Lisa (James) DiViesta of Fla., a brother Donald of Monroe, grandchildren Eric (Alyssa) Caterson of Seymour, Michael (Kacy) Caterson of Newtown and Kyle Egan of Prospect and two great grandchildren Kailey and Chase Caterson.  He also leaves and two special nieces Cathy Jo Caterson of Colorado and Diane Linderback of Monroe and many nieces and nephews as well as his step daughter Cathy Thomson of Prospect.

Bob was predeceased by his sons Greg Caterson and Robert Caterson Jr.
