Robert Trevino, July 11, 1953 – November 23, 2018.
After a much hard battle with congestive heart failure due to dialysis Robert L. Trevino was granted his angel wings on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Baylor Scott & White surrounded by his family & friends.
Robert Lewis Trevino, 65, of Temple.
Robert was born July 11, 1953 in Belton, the son of Thomas and Lola Trevino. Robert graduated from Belton High School and attended Central Texas College. He married Alma Guardiola on April 12, 1986 in Belton.
While growing up Robert worked with his brothers and cousins at Frank’s Lakeview Inn, The Captain’s Table, and Belton North Cemetery and with his dad at the estate of Mr. Frank Cannon. As Robert was attending college he started working in Construction for the companies of Maclory, Goosbly, Emerson, MW Builders, Dominguez, Boyd Form, Carothers and Nue-Tek Construction Companies before he became disabled in 2006.
Along with his parents Robert was a long-time member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Belton and a Charter Member of Knights Of Columbus Council 7196 since 1979. He was past Grand Knight from 1987-1989 and 2007-2008, Deputy Grand Knight and held other KC offices. Robert was also a member of the Fr. Harry S. Bilski 4th Degree Assembly 2766. He was a former member of the Finance and Parish Council of Christ The King. Robert loved his Knights of Columbus Council and would do as much as he body would allowed him to do. Robert along with his wife taught Religious Education for 15 years at Christ The King and helped cook for Sunday Night Youth meetings and their confirmation retreats for 17 years. Robert along with Alma also loved coming up ideas for fundraisers for the youth for their World Youth Trips, NCYC, RCYC or DCYC like making tamales, enchilada dinners, garage sales or hamburger sales up until he had stroke in 2014. Even when Robert became disabled and wheelchair bound he would still work the annual church festivals, fundraisers, St. Mary’s end of the school hamburgers, and the KC Fish Fries.
Robert loved to read, listening to music and watching religious, western, sports and war movies. Robert loved to also listen to his Worship and Praise Music, Andrea Bocelli, Tejano, Classic Country, Catholic Hymns and his 70’s music. Robert loved visiting the Hill Country and liked for his wife to take him riding in the Three Forks Area, Salado, and Armstrong Community. Robert loved his Faith and he would get up every morning to do his daily prayers especially for those who were suffering. He loved attending Mass on Sunday mornings. His faith in God Is what kept Robert going.
Robert was an avid Texas Longhorn and Dallas Cowboys Fan. He loved his Texas Longhorns whether they were winning or not.
When Robert started his dialysis he became friends with all he came across during his treatments. When someone in dialysis passed away Robert would take it hard and would always pray for their families. He always worried about his dialysis friend Carrie King whom he loved and cared for. Carrie looked after him after he suffered a stroke and she took it upon herself to speak for him when Alma could not be there. Robert had a lot of respect for his dialysis doctors; he loved his techs, dietitians and social workers who took care of him for the past 7 years.
Robert’s proudest moment was that he got to see his son get married to Mandi in the spring of 2018. He was so proud of his son Michael for also showing respect and helping others in dialysis. His son Michael would pick his father in the early morning hours to help his mom out to take Robert to dialysis. Robert was so fond of his son about never complaining when taking him to dialysis or picking him up. Michael knew if he picked his dad up that Robert could get away by sneaking him some food that he was not supposed to have and so do his brother Richard and his running buddy Oscar Valeriano and his wife Martha.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild and his cat Oreo.
Robert is survived by his wife, his beloved son Michael Trevino and his wife Mandi of Temple, his beloved brothers Richard Trevino of College Station, Michael Trevino & Ligia of Austin and Ruben Trevino of Harker Heights and his niece Lauren Trevino of Austin.
