Robert Taylor, a native and resident of Choctaw Bluff, AL.., was born on December 5, 1944 to the late Charlie and Lelar Taylor. He was a faithful member of St. James A.M.E. Church, where he served as an usher. Robert, better-known as “Scald Cat” to family and friends was a graduate of Harper High School, class of 1965. Until retirement as a computer operator, Robert dedicated 39 years to Cuba Geigy, in McIntosh, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents: father-in-law, Frank (Abbie) Nash, Sr.; infant daughter, Rosalind Taylor; and sister, Vernell “Sug Sug” Tylor. He departed this life Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Providence Hospital.
Spending time and bringing smiles to the faces of family and friends brought “Scald Cat”” so much joy. To that end he leaves to forever cherish his fun-loving memories: a devoted and caring wife of 51 years, Mattie Pearl Nash Taylor; four loving and caring children, LaKeshia Dixon and Deborah (Reaky) George, both of Jackson,AL., Kristie Taylor of Montgomery, AL., and Robert Kenta Taylor (Akshara) of Seattle, WA., ten grandchildren, two godchildren, a devoted son-in-law, Lonnie Dixon; siblings, Charlie Taylor, Jr., David Taylor, Lorean (Jerdon) Washington, Lillie Adams, and Melissa Taylor all of Jackson, AL., Ernest Taylor of Detroit, MI., Shirley(Blanche) Jones of Mobile, AL., Sidney Taylor of Montgomery, AL., and Sandra (Earl) Moore of Savannah, GA., brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank (Geraldine) Nash, Jr., of Jackson, AL., Ruth Richardson of Mobile, AL., Jessie Pugh of Toddtown, AL., Thomas (Mamie) Nash of Frisco City, AL., and Gladys Coleman and Mike (Edena) Nash of Moss Point, MS.; adopted mother Wilcy Mae Boykin of Choctaw Bluff; four devoted aunts and one uncle; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; his Ciba family; devoted cousins, Johnny Charles Stephens, Archie Foxx and Leroy Foxx; devoted friends, Clifton Moore, Felton Harris, Rodger Scott, Carl Robinson and Leevire (Sam) Robertson.
