Robert T. Lyons, 53, of Stafford Springs, formerly of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 30, 2011, surrounded by his family and close friends at St. Francis Hospital.

Bob was born in Bristol on July 12, 1957, one of two sons of the late Melvin and Marion (Robinson) Lyons.  Raised in Plainville, he was a 1975 graduate of Plainville High School, and spent many years supporting and working with the local Boy Scouts of America, leaving a great impact on the lives of many. An outdoors enthusiast, Bob had a love for hunting and fishing, finally fulfilling his dream of living by a lake where he could go boating and fishing daily when he moved to Stafford Springs.  He leaves many dear friends and co-workers at Smith and Wesson in Springfield, MA where he shared his expertise as a manufacturing engineer for more than twenty years, and enjoyed many local and worldwide trips during his time there.  Bob was truly one of a kind, who enjoyed his life to the fullest, and will be sorely missed by all who with whom he came into contact with.

He is survived by his brother, Larry Lyons of Plainville; his niece, Lacey Songhurst and her husband, Jeff of Wallingford; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends, especially his three closest buddies, Keith, Leo, and Bill.

Family and friends may gather on Friday, May 6, 2011, from 6-8 p.m.

There was only one Bob-There shall never be another that can match him!
