Robert K. “Bob” Schutte, 71, of Bloomington, passed away March 23, 2011 at the Bloomington Hospital.

Born, April 8, 1939 in Muncie, Indiana, he was the son of Robert and Ruth (Maley) Schutte. Bob was a police officer at the Indiana University Police Department for 39 years before retiring as Lieutenant in 2002. He was a 1957 graduate of Smithville High School, and he was an avid fan of Indiana University Athletics. Bob never missed an athletic event of his four children and he was also a former basketball coach at the Bloomington Boys Club. A loving husband, father and grandfather he enjoyed being with his grandchildren and his “grandpuppies,” Bailey and Max. He was a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Beverly (Southern) Schutte, four children, Scott K. Schutte (Diana) of Loogootee, Doug B. Schutte (Shelby) of Greenwood, Kimberly J. Witte of Fishers, Patrick J. Schutte (Jen) of Cincinnati, OH; eight grandchildren, Melissa Enyhart (Seth), Jason Schutte, Adam Schutte, Andy Peeden, Ashley Schutte, Grant Witte, Courtney Peeden, Meghan Witte and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bill and Larry Schutte and his granddaughter, Heather Schutte.
