Robert S. “Knobby” Degnan, 81, of Bristol, husband of Charline (Ruzbasan) Degnan, died November 30, 2009. 

He was born June 4, 1928, son of the late John and Esther Degnan and was a life-long resident of Bristol.  He attended Bristol schools and he graduated from Hartford Regional Technical School.  He received a Certificate from the Plus School of Business in Hartford.  He retired in 1991 from the Phoenix Insurance Company in Hartford, where he was employed in computer operations.  For many years, he worked as a part time barber in Bristol.  He was an active member of the American Legion Post 2 and served on the Executive Board.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lori and her husband, Scott Thompson of Bristol and Lisa and her husband, Thomas Lavoie of Farmington; two grandsons, Jason and Bill Thompson of Bristol and granddaughter, Lea Lavoie of Farmington; two sisters, Dorothy Cascone of Bristol and Carol and her husband, Francis Mullins of Bristol; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.  He was predeceased by a sister, Marion Giovinazzo and a brother, John J. Degnan.
