Robert Roessler (Bob) Wuelfing, 90, of Cromwell and formerly West Hartford, passed away on May 16, 2014 at Covenant Village of Cromwell after a short illness. He was the loving and devoted husband of Shirley (Nyquist) Wuelfing and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Bob was a distinguished veteran of World War II, serving for over three years in the European Theatre of Operations and participating in many campaigns throughout France and Germany. Soon after returning home in 1945, he met and married Shirley and they began their life together. Quiet, strong and steady, Bob was a good friend and an inspiration to many. In addition to his wife Shirley, Bob is survived by his son Robert G. and wife Marianne, his daughter Karen Umland and husband Wayne of York, PA and his sister Elizabeth Layton. He also leaves behind in life but not in spirit, his grandchildren Eric Wuelfing, Alyson Bucks and husband Justin and great-grandchildren Christian and Ashleigh Bucks.
Bob was preceded in death by granddaughter Lauren (Umland) Reed, his brother George and his sister Patricia Wolf.
