We are heartbroken & devastated to announce the passing of Robert Ricky Ratzlow Monday, August 22, 2022 at his home at the age of 58.
Robert Ricky Ratzlow was born February 29, 1964 to Norman and Jeanette (Nelson) Ratzlow in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was the youngest of seven children.
Ricky had many skills including being a talented journeyman carpenter since he was 17 years old and a meticulous painter. He used his carpentry skills to build floats for The Blue Star Moms as well as decorating many trailers for Ratzlow Christmas celebrations.
His many hobbies included anything outdoors, as an avid fisherman, hunter and camper. Ricky enjoyed getting his hands dirty always worked hard as a farmer and gardener. He made the very best hot pickles.
Ricky enjoyed being an ABATE member with Jack Pine Riders. He was a lover of all animals and over the years took in many strays. He loved the horses he cared for and numerous cats and kittens.
Above all Ricky loved his family; his five sisters and brother, 14 nieces, nephews 25 great nieces/nephews. We will always remember Ricky’s kind heart and infectious laugh. You will be missed by many Ricky!
Ricky is survived by his siblings Cheryl (Fred) Lewis of Brimson, Rusty (Sheila) Ratzlow of Cross Lake, Vallerie (Jerry) Effertz of Pine City, Vickie (Gary) Jedlicka of St. Francis, Jackie (Jim) Elkin of Star Prairie, WI; brother-in-law Fred Buchholtz of St. Paul; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Jeanette Ratzlow; sister Lauralee Buchholtz.
