Robert R. Thompson, CPA, 73, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Linda, their children, Jennifer and husband Steven Hunter of Merritt Island, FL; Matthew Thompson of Cocoa, FL; Sarah and husband Daniel Chule of Winter Park, FL; their loving grandchildren Hannah and Holly Hunter, Elizabeth, James (Robert) and Andrew Chule; and sister Carolyn Traver of Gainesville, FL.
Robert was born July 22, 1943 in Miami, Florida. He graduated from Coral Gables Senior High School and thereafter enlisted in the US Army in 1961. He graduated cum laude from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL in 1969, where he met his wife and was a member of Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. He started his career with Arthur Andersen where he became one of the youngest tax managers in firm history. He was a Retired Managing Tax Partner for Deloitte & Touche and jointly managed the Fort Lauderdale and Orlando offices. He served on the board of the Orlando Science Center and was a past president of the North Fort Lauderdale Rotary Club. He held an honorary degree from Florida International University, Miami, FL.
