Robert (Bob) L. McCord, an longtime NHL player (Montreal, Boston, Detroit, Minnesota, St. Louis, Denver, & Springfield) passed away on Oct. 21, 2016 at age 82 in Parker, CO.  Bob was a well-known defenseman in the original 6 NHL teams and ended his hockey career as Captain with the Denver Spurs in the 70’s.  Among his awards, he was twice recipient of the Eddie Shore Award as Outstanding Defenseman in the AHL.

Following his hockey career, Bob worked for Arapahoe County Road & Bridge and Overland Golf course for many years.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Robert A. McCord (Cindy) of Virginia Beach, VA, son Douglas J. McCord (Connie) of Aurora, CO, daughter Maureen Pennington (Don) of Littleton, daughter Cheryl A. McKinnell (Bill) of Roxborough, CO, grandson Ryan McCord, granddaughter Leigh-Ann Coggins, grandson Jason McCord, grandson Matthew McCord, granddaughter Stephanie McCord, granddaughter Sandra Sundling, granddaughter Cameryn McKinnell, and many great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his father, James Alden McCord and his mother, Nellie Turcott McCord, both from Timmins, Ontario, Canada.
