Robert P. Moran, 56, of Galesburg, died at 2:31 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Bob was born October 11, 1957 in Moline, the son of Robert Lee and Sally Ann (Carlton) Moran. He married Cindy Poulson. She preceded him in death. Bob, is survived by his mother, Sally Ann Krantz of East Moline; his significant other of ten years, Donna Boyd of Galesburg; four daughters, Brandi Moran of Knoxville, Christina Moran of Galesburg, Melissa (Andrew) Rench of Abingdon, and Candice (Michael Geyssens) Moran of East Moline; a son, Robert Paul Moran of Galesburg; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by two step daughters, Heather Marie Boyd of Arizona and Betty Jean Boyd of Galesburg; and three sisters, JoLynn (Jim) Boyd of Rock Island, Amber (Jim) Webber of Galesburg, and Tina Gerlich of Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Moran and his grandmother, Viola Carlton.
Robert joined the US Army in May 1979, retiring in May 1989, attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. He then worked for Roadside Auto for 11 years, retiring in 2000. He loved to go fishing and working in his yard, but most of all, he loved being with his family. Bob was a member of copd.com for the last ten years, spending much of his time helping people understand what it was like to live with COPD.
