HAVERHILL – Robert P. Holmes, Jr., 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill.
Robert was born on September 7, 1936, in Haverhill and was a lifelong area resident. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953, serving during the Korean War. He worked for the Department of Public Works in Haverhill in addition to working construction. In his early years he served as a Constable in the City of Haverhill.
Robert is the son of the late Robert P. Holmes, Sr. and Christine Holmes. His surviving family members include his loving brothers George Holmes and Malcolm Holmes of Virginia; cherished daughters Christine Holmes and Patricia Holmes; grandsons Justin Holmes and Kyle White; he will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as all his family and friends.
Robert had a passion for Boxing and in his early years took part in the sport receiving a Golden Gloves award. Robert had a special heart for animals especially his late longtime companion “Dog.” In addition, Robert, aka “Bobby Holmes” took pride in his many cars and was known and loved by many because of his eccentric personality and his pick-up truck.
He will be forever missed by his two daughters.
