Robert McClellan Fleming, 85, a five year resident of Catonsville, formerly of Ferndale, passed away on September 1, 2012 at his home. Robert was born in 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to Cecil and Virgil Fleming. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1965 when he retired as a Communications Technician Chief. He also worked for N.S.A. as an Operations Directorate, Westinghouse Special Police, and was a Deputy Sheriff for Anne Arundel Police. Robert was a life member of the American Legion Post 40, V.F.W., Masonic Lodge 213, Order of the Eastern Star, Elks Lodge 2266, Moose Lodge 1456, Annapolis Fleet Reserve, and the Arundel Alarmers. He enjoyed playing pool, playing cards, staying active in the above mentioned organizations, and volunteering in various community functions. Robert was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 62 years, Janice L. Fleming; and his son, Robert Fleming. He is survived by four loving children, Joanne Stepp and husband Leo, Monte Fleming and wife Belinda, Reuell Fleming, and Jeanne Marucha and husband Danny; 16 beloved grandchildren, 12 cherished great-grandchildren, and he was a foster parent.
