Robert Maurice Shelton, Jr., age 33, passed away on Saturday, the 20th day of June 2020, in Palestine, Texas. He was born on the 19th day of July 1986, in Palestine, Texas to Robert and Lee Ann (Hamby) Shelton and was a lifelong resident of the Palestine area. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and in 2004, he earned his Eagle Scout rank and graduated from Westwood High School. Robert loved to hunt and fish and was following in his father’s footsteps with collecting and refurbishing antique lanterns.
Robert is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bill Shelton, and his maternal grandparents, Gary and Jackie Hamby.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Lee Ann (Hamby) Shelton; sisters, Christy Shelton of Palestine and Sarah Dykes of Jacksonville; paternal grandmother, Peggy Abbott of Empire, Alabama, along with several nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
