Robert Marr Stuteville, of Elkhart, Texas, passed away on Friday, the 26th day of August 2022, at the age of 85.  Mr. Stuteville was born on the 16th day of May 1937, in Dallas, Texas.  Soon after his birth, he was adopted by M. V. and Roline Stuteville.

Mr. Stuteville lived in Bryan, Texas until 1945, when he moved to Elkhart, Texas, where he spent the majority of his life.  He graduated in 1955 from Elkhart High School, then went to business school in Dallas.  On May 31, 1958, he married Laura A. Moore.  They both attended Henderson County Junior College in Athens and Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.  He graduated with a Smith Hughes in Agriculture in 1960.  After graduation, he taught school in Houston, sold cars for Art Grindle, and sold insurance for National Farm Life.  About 1964, his dad, M. V. Stuteville, had built the Feed Mill for Elkhart Farmer’s Cooperative Assn. Inc.  He needed someone to operate the Feed Mill.  From that time on the Co-Op grew with over 5,000 members.  He helped his dad as assistant manager when the Co-Op was at its prime.  His primary jobs were selling animal health products and dispatcher of fertilizer.  He retired in 1999.

Mr. Stuteville loved helping the farmers with their farm problems and coaching Little League Baseball.  In 1998 he was diagnosed with spastic paraparesis, a neurological condition.  He had a stroke in 2001 and was on a walker until 2013, when he became a wheelchair patient.  Mr. Stuteville had been a member of the YMCA since then and loved playing 42 and 88 with his friends.  Thanks to the YMCA in making his life longer and fuller.  He also loved to fish, travel, and when he could walk, square dance, and take care of his cows. 

Mr. Stuteville was very active in various organizations throughout his life.  He was a Board Member of the First United Methodist Church since 1954, Member of the Elkhart Lions Club since 1967, served his time on the Elkhart I.S.D.

Mr. Stuteville is preceded in death by his parents M. V. and Roline Stuteville, and a special aunt, Marjory Marr.

Mr. Stuteville is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Laura Agnes Moore Stuteville; two sons, Robert Mark Stuteville and fiancé Dani Fenske, and Roland Mitchel Stuteville and wife Jan; grandchildren, Jessica Weido and husband Jack, Emily Grant and husband Alan of Elkhart, Richard Gilliam and wife Shannon of Houston; great-grandchildren, Carley Rae Devries, Jaycee Weido, Carter Vickery, Cooper Vickery, Carrigan Grant, Colson Gilliam, Hudson Gilliam, Sidney Elise Gilliam, Nolan Grant, and Robin Grant.
