Robert Martin Hartog, MD, age 78, died unexpectedly but peacefully on May 14, 2022. Born in New York, New York on June 12th, 1943, to the parents of Dutch immigrants (Josephine and Martin). His family later moved to Larchmont, New York where he grew up. For college he attended Case Western Reserve University where he met his wife, Doris J Flohr Hartog. They were married on July 30th, 1965. After graduating from Western Reserve, he went on to attend medical school at the State University of New York – Buffalo. He completed his residency at Albany Medical Center and internship at Dupont Hospital (now Nemours Children’s Hospital) where he became a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialty in Pediatric Orthopaedics. After completing his training, he moved the family to warm South Florida in southern Miami. He went on to have a successful career where he volunteered time for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in the clinic at Miami Children’s Hospital and appeared locally on the Jerry Lewis MDA telethon on several occasions. While he was on staff at multiple South Florida hospitals his primary work occurred at Baptist Hospital of Miami where in the 1990’s he served two terms as Chief of Orthopaedics. For recreation, he loved baseball, played slow pitch softball and was a lifelong New York Yankees fan. In his later years he had taken up golf. He is survived by his wife Doris; two children Andrew (Maria) and Lauren, and two grandchildren Nicholas and Alexis. He is also survived by his brother Jack (Johannys) and sister Trixie Lattimore (Jim).
