Robert Francis Lohneiss, 87, died on June 4, 2016 at the Health First Hospital in Viera, Florida. Robert (Bob) was born in Middletown, CT to Frances and Andrew Lohneiss, served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946 – 1948, graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree and completed a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1960 from RPI.
Married to “the love of his life”, Patricia McCormac in 1955, Bob fathered nine children and was a loving grandfather to 27 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Bob and Pat lived in Middletown from 1960 – 1965, raised their children in West Hartford, CT from 1965 until 1994 and enjoyed their retirement years in Melbourne, FL where Bob played tennis and bridge until his recent illness. A passionate and talented athlete, Bob supported his children and grandchildren in their numerous athletic endeavors. He was an active member of the Suntree Country Club and the St.
Bob is predeceased by his son, Daniel Michael, brother Andrew and sister Muriel Glasow. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, brother William and sister Donna Granada and children: Kate Pedemonti, Robert Lohneiss, Jr., John Lohneiss, Patricia Moran, James Lohneiss, Janice Lohneiss, Jennifer Deneen and David Lohneiss as well as devoted spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of which he was very proud and who will remember his tremendous love for his family.
