Underwood, Robert Lee, age 76, of Birmingham, AL, passed away on March 26, 2011. He was a former member of the United States Navy, Black Barons – A National Negro League Baseball Team, and an employee of Connors Steel and Meadow Craft. He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Underwood; stepfather, Godwin “GB” Bishop; mother, Fannie Mae Bishop; and son, Robert Lee Underwood, Jr. (Bobby). He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Betty Jean Hill-Underwood; two daughters, devoted Carle’ Denise Underwood, Rita (Roderick) Gadsden; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Judy Hill-Hart, Carlesia Smith, Annette Young (all of Mobile, AL); four brothers-in-law, Waverly (Dorothy) Hill (Antelope, CA), Willie Hill (New Orleans, LA), Charlie (Gwendolyn) Hill, David (Rosalyn) Hill (St. Petersburg, FL); and a host of relatives and friends.
