Robert L. “Bob” Spencer, 84, of Fairmount, died January 17, 2022, at Aperion Health.
Bob was born on January 30, 1937, in Marion, Indiana, son of the late Lawrence and Mildred (White) Spencer. Bob loved his country and honorably served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Margaret “Ann” Wert on June 28, 1960, in Wabash. Bob retired from Comcast/Essex after 30 years where he was a supervisor. During good weather, you could often find Bob enjoying his front porch from the home he built. He also enjoyed golf cart rides and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a past Commander of the Fairmount American Legion.
Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann. Also surviving are children, Mike Spencer, Jonesboro, Dan Spencer, Gas City, Lori (Darren) Pierce, Fairmount, Amanda Ricks, Marion, and Bobby Spencer, Florida; grandchildren, Ashley (Chance) Cowgill, Gas City, Rob Spencer, Anderson, Lindsey (Cory) Clark, Greentown, Katee Pierce, Marion, Rae Anne Spencer, Jonesboro, Michaela Spencer, Jonesboro; great-grandchildren, Preston McCann, Gas City, Sophia McCann, Gas City, Lincoln Cunningham, Gas City, Mason Paschall, Jonesboro, Aly Paschall, Jonesboro, Scarlett Spencer, Gas City, Alex Jackson, Jonesboro; sister Joyce Seaton, Fairmount, Larry (Gale) Spencer, Missouri, and Tim (Carla) Spencer, Summitville.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, George, and Elva Wert; infant daughter, Debra; sister, Dianna Akbey; great-granddaughter, Addison Dooley.
