Robert Lee Perry Sr., 81, Anderson, died August 13, 2006 at Community Hospital, Anderson after an extended illness. He was born May 17, 1925 in Anderson, Indiana, and was a lifelong Anderson resident.
Robert and Norma would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on Tuesday, August 15th, 2006. He served his country proudly in the US Army as a medic during WWII.
Robert retired from Container Corporation after 44 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #266 as well as a member of the Independent Order of Forresters and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife whom he married August 15, 1946, Norma McCarty Perry; daughter, Sarah K. Perry of Anderson; two sons, Robert Lee Perry Jr. & wife Carole of LaPorte, Texas and George E. ”Bud” Perry & wife Jeannie of Anderson; brother, Marion L. Perry of Anderson; sister, Betty Hilligoss of markleville; five grandchildren, Jaclyn G. Humphrey, Eileen M. Lambert, Stacey Hoyle, Troy Hoyle and Chris Hoyle; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Community Hospital Extended Care Unit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verlie & Katherine Beck Perry and a sister, Barbara Jayne.
