Robert Lee Archie, Sr., 75, formerly of 1014 Terrell Dr. and SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation for The Triad, died Sunday, May 27, 2007 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mr. Archie was born Nov. 25, 1931 in High Point, a son of John Henry and Retha Walker Archie. Following graduation from William Penn High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged, he returned to his native High Point and was later employed as program director at The Boys’ and Girls’ Club of The Salvation Army, from which he retired. Although a former member of Brooks Memorial Methodist Church, he attended other local churches.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include: wife, Shirley Rogers Archie of the home; two sons, Robert L. Archie, Jr. of New Haven, CT, and Byron (Melissa) Archie of Upper Fairmont, MD; two daughters, Alnetta Price of Willingboro, NJ, and Rosalind L. Archie of the home; six grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin (Bettie) Archie and Robert J. (Ann) Archie, and one sister, Ruby Baker, all of High Point; one aunt, Uzzie Lee Boyd of High Point; sisters-in-law, Edna (Lester) Hough of Plainfield, NJ, Claretta Rogers Carter and Julia Rogers Leach, both of High Point; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
