Robert Layne “Chuck” Stanton, 76, of Albright, WV, died on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Chuck was born July 20, 1939, in Bruceton Mills, a son of the late Ernest Lewis and Emma Clara (Wheeler) Stanton.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was a recipient of two purple hearts; he was a truck driver for Greenbrier Aggregates. Chuck liked inventing things, working on cars, keeping busy, hunting and loved helping people. He was a member of the Albright Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorotha Jean (Calvert) Stanton; one son, Mark Stanton of Worms, Germany, two step-sons, Jason Ray Catlett of Atlanta, GA, Jeffrey Russell Catlett of Denver, CO; two daughters and spouses, Janet Stanton and Uve of Worms, Germany, Candace Frankhouser and husband Bradley of Albright; three brothers and spouses, Ernest “Bud” Stanton and Shirley of Elyria, OH, Roy Stanton and Nixie of Albright, Ray Stanton of Newburg; three sisters and spouses, Pat Graham of Albright, Lula Mae Graham and Richard of Kingwood, Elizabeth Ann Fox and Huey of OH; four grandchildren, Vanessa S., Darnell S., Alexis F., and Braeden F.; two brothers-in-law and spouse, David and Jeanie Calvert, Don Calvert, all of Kingwood; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Shrout and Margaret DeBerry.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price Street on Monday, January 4, 2016, from 2-8pm; on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, from 10:00 a.m.
