Robert Lauren Tuttle, 80, died unexpectedly in his sleep Thursday, December 18, 2014 at his home near Fowler. He had been active in the community on the day before his death and sent an e-mail to friends about 4:30 on the morning of his death. Robert, “Bob” Tuttle was born November 30, 1934 at his parents’ home in Cañon City. He was the only child of Lauren Jasper Tuttle and Mary Gibbins Tuttle. This home was an old train depot which stood near the corner of 15th Street and Greenwood in Cañon City. Robert grew to manhood in Cañon City. He worked with his father on their dairy farm and with his grandfather, Robert Henry Gibbins, who founded and ran the Red Canon Dairy in Cañon City. Robert learned to drive a John Deere tractor before he was old enough to drive a car and later drove a dairy delivery truck for his grandfather. He completed his first 12 years of education in 1952 and had maintained communication links for his Cañon City classmates until his death. Robert attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1956. He married Anna Jane Thompson the next day. She was a high school classmate.
