Robert L. Price, 93, passed away peacefully at his South Bend home the morning of March 02, 2022.
Robert (Bob) was born in Marion, Ohio, February 18, 1929, to James O. and Mary Rose Price (Lardner). He came to South Bend in 1935 with his parents and older brother, James O. Price Jr., of Auburn, Washington, who proceeded him in death.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, children Kathleen (Jeff Johnson), John (Althea Fleck) and Jean (Robert Gustafson). His oldest son, Thomas, passed away in 2010. Bob is also survived by four grandchildren Kevin Brisson, Kristen Price, Emily and Eric Cranmer, four great grandchildren Kammie Almeida, Tara Harrison, Kylee and Kennedee Miller, and two great-great grandchildren Braxton and Braedon Darnell.
He attended Holy Cross Elementary School, Central Catholic High School, and The University of Notre Dame where he was appointed a MIDSHIPMAN in the Naval Reserve of the United States Navy in 1946.
Bob met the love of his life, Patricia M. Scanlon in 1945. They were married on Feb. 19, 1949.
Bob worked for and helped run his father-in-law’s business, Scanlon Electric Company until Leo Scanlon retired at which point Bob continued to run the company until his retirement in June of 1998. He was a member of IBEW Local 153 and the Northern Indiana Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). Because he loved his work and was committed to the electrical industry, he was an accredited member of NECA from 1964 to 1996. During that time, he served on the Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee from 1965 to 1978, was on the Board of Directors from 1977 to 1996, was Chairman of The Eastern Indiana Division from 1980-1990, was on the Labor-Management Committee 1980-1996, Chapter Treasurer 1987-1996, Legislative Committee 1987 – 1996, Public Education Committee 1987-1996 and the Steering Committee 1987-1996.
He was also President of the Builders Exchange Board in 1969 and served on the South Bend and St. Joseph County Electrical Contractors Examining Board from 1974 to 1998.
On April 19th, 1997 he was presented The Eagle Award for his outstanding endeavors in the interest of the Industry and NECA.
Bob and Pat are members of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church and he had a life-long passion for the Christian faith. He loved bluegill fishing, especially the annual trips to southern Indiana with his high school friend Leo, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Bob was completely devoted to his family, especially his wife.
He will be remembered always as a gentleman, a man of great faith, a man who loved well and who was well loved in return.
