Robert L Myers, 27, Moline, passed away on Jan. 7, 2014, at home. Bobby was born on Mar. 21, 1986, in Independence, MO, the son of Julie Burke Myers and Gary L. Myers.
He attended Knoxville Schools, graduating from Knoxville High School in 2004. Further education included Associates Degree, Carl Sandburg College, BA in Business Administration, Western Illinois University, University of Hawaii, Rutgers University, obtaining a MA in Criminal Justice, St Ambrose University, Davenport, IA in 2013. While in high school he was invited to attend the Illinois Teenage Institute ITI with the PALS Program, Peers with Advanced Leadership Skills, at Millikin University. He was sponsored by the Masons Pacific Lodge 66, Knoxville. For three years he was with Knox County Teen Court, having served as juror, defense attorney, prosecuting attorney, and bailiff. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg, confirmed at age twelve, served as a Deacon, participated with Presbyterian Youth Club and other committees, was an Illinois High School Association basketball official, affiliated with the Masons Davenport Lodge #37, Davenport, IA and was a Navy Veteran.
He was a Digital Media Consultant for the Quad-City Times, Davenport, IA, worked for security at I Wireless, Moline, IL, and assisted Congressman Michael Jacobs and Bobby Schilling on their political campaigns. While in college he established a book company as owner and operator under the title of Grammy’s Books which was still in operation. A love of the outdoors included running marathons, golfing, and fishing. Sports were a big part of his life. A Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, Mallards, and Notre Dame fan he attended many of their games. He followed many Major League and local teams.
Those remaining to remember his smile are a two-year-old daughter, Ashlyn Myers, of Davenport, IA, his mother, Julie Burke Myers, of Galesburg, two sisters, Jessica Myers and Tiffany Myers of Galesburg, maternal grandmother, Margaret Burke of Galesburg, paternal grandmother, Alice Myers of Knoxville, aunts, Linda (Roger) Lamm, of Galesburg, Karen Allen, of FL, Debbie (Randy) Shreeves, of Tuscola, Becky (Tom) Nyman, of Abingdon, uncle, Terry Myers of Galesburg, several cousins, many close friends and every person he ever met. Preceding him in death were his father, Gary L. Myers, maternal grandfather, Robert L. Burke, paternal grandfather, Forrest ”Gene” Myers, and an uncle, Robert Myers.
