Robert L. Landgraf, 84, of Freeport, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Stephenson Nursing Center after a long illness. Born June 16, 1920 he was the son of Alfred and Hazel (Nicks) Landgraf. He married Virginia F. “Fern” Williams April 20, 1946 and she died November 9, 2004.A World War II Army veteran, he was stationed in Calcutta, India. and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He worked at Honeywell for 29 years retiring in 1982 and was a member of their Quarter Century Club.

An avid gardener, he was well known for his vegetables and beautiful flowers. He would take his lovely gladiolas and place them on the graves of his family and friends. On Saturday mornings he could be found at the Farmer’s Market visiting with people and selling his extra produce. He also enjoyed growing grapes and making his own wine. He was a well known hunter, fisherman, and trapper.

He and his wife were frequently seen at coon dog field trials around the state. Robert designed and built many kitchen cabinets for his friends and family. Surviving are his son, Robert M. Landgraf of Woodland Park, CO; daughter, Rebecca J. (John) Snyder of Hastings, PA; 3 grandchildren, Amanda (Rick) Smith of Nanty-Glo, PA, Jesse and Jacob Snyder of Hastings, PA.; sister, Jean Ackerman of Freeport; half sister, Janet Dama; half brothers, Ronald and James Landgraf. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and 1 brother, Kenneth Landgraf.
