Robert L. Hines, 76, of Grand Ridge, died Saturday morning, March 1, at his home surrounded by his family.

Bob was born on April 22, 1937, in Kansas City, Kansas, to James and Mildred (Pierson) Hines. He was a member of the Ottawa Township High School Class of 1956. He married Kay Kline on December 29, 1957, at the Grand Ridge United Methodist Church. He was the Fleet Manager of Kline’s School and Charter Bus Company, and the former owner of CarQuest Auto Parts. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Ottawa Elks Club, Dayton Ridge Golf Course and Pine Hills Golf Club.

He served as Mayor of Grand Ridge for 8 years, and served 8 years as a village trustee. He was director of Grand Ridge Community Fest, a Boy Scout Leader, baseball coach of Grand Ridge Youth Baseball, and past-president of Epworth Village.

He is survived by his wife Kay, three sons, Robert K. (Lori) Hines of Grand Ridge, Randall J. (Wendy) Hines, of Oswego, and Brian S. (Missy) Hines of Grand Ridge; five grandchildren: Marcus, James, Jason, Adam, and Emily Hines, two sisters, Pamela (Dennis) Terrell, of Richardson, TX and Patricia (Don) Stephens, of Emory, TX, and one brother, Jack LeRoy (Carolyn) Hines, of Gunsmoke, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, James B. Hines, Jr. Pallbearers will be his five grandchildren, and a nephew, Jack Hines, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ken Gielow, Bill Sly, Jerry Rowe, and Wayne Cunningham.
