Robert Leroy “Bob” Hager, 82, of Ashland, IL died Sunday, June 18, 2017, at the Estate Senior Living and Spa in Springfield, IL.
He was born October 17, 1934 in rural Cass County, the son of Karl and Gladys Carls Hager. He married Yvonne E. Vogt on October 19, 1956 in Petersburg, IL and she survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Bryce Hager (wife, Star) of Ashland, Robin Hager (wife, Jamie) of Naperville, and Dwight Hager (fiancé, Melissa Wright) of Jefferson City, MO; eight grandsons, Payden, Ross, Jeff, Cameron, Connor, Jason, Cody, and Charlie Hager; a granddaughter, Kennedy Hager; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William Hager, Richard Hager, and in infancy, Gene Hager; and three sisters, Alberta Fox, Dorothy Loeffler, and Lucille Hodges.
Bob was a 1952 graduate of Ashland High School and served in the US Army Reserves. He was employed by Cass Telephone Company for 8 years prior to joining State of Illinois Department of Conservation. He retired in 1999 following 39 years with the Department of Conservation.
He was a long time member of the Ashland United Methodist Church and Ducks Unlimited. In past years, Bob served as the volunteer director of Ashland Little League. His passions included hunting, fishing, Chicago Cubs baseball, and time spent with his family.
