Robert Boldt, 88, of Waltham Twp., died September 16, at the Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center.
Mr. Boldt was born on Jan. 21, 1923 in Windsor, Illinois, to Otto and Ida (Robertson) Boldt. He graduated from Serena High School in 1942. He worked for Union Carbide until retirement, and was a life-long dairy farmer in Waltham Township. He married Vera Lou Williamson on August 31, 1947, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa.
She died on Dec. 11, 2008. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ottawa Milk Producers, Farm Bureau and 4-H leader in Waltham Township for many years.
He is survived by two daughters, Julie (Jerry) Cave of rural Grand Ridge and Annette (Floyd) Crane of LaSalle; three sons, Brian (Sue) Boldt of Flanagan, Mark Boldt and Stephen (Gerry Conro) Boldt, both of Ottawa; 10 grandchildren, Rebecca McMillan, Brooke Wallace, Bradley Boldt, Chad Crane, Amanda Davis, Brittany Chapman, Adam, Andrew, Jessica and Justin Cave, and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera; three sisters, Kathleen Burchard, Kaye Dudley, and Dale Duffy and four brothers, Clyde, Ben, Foster, and Forest Boldt. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Chad Crane, Brad Boldt, Adam, Andrew and Justin Cave and Nick Conro.
