Robert Adams, age 91, of Muncie, IN, died August 2, 2013, at IU Ball Memorial Hosptial in Muncie, IN.
Mr. Adams was a retired school teacher.He graduated from Fairmount High School in 1941.He received his Bachelor Science Degree in Agriculture from Purdue University and his Master’s in Special Education from Ball State University.He was the first to introduce Special Education Programs to Mississinewa High School and J. C. Knight Elemetary School. He volunteered to help students get their G.E.D. through the Dropout Program in Ft. Wayne, IN He assisted low income families in education pursuits at Anderson, IN. As a youth he was involve in 4-H and Future Farmers of America.From 1976 to 1982 he was a short story writer for the Fairmount News-Sun. He was an active member of the Back Creek Friends, Fairmount, IN and First Friends Church, Marion, IN.
He was born September 16, 1922 to the late Emery Curtis and Dora E. (Wilson) Adams at Fairmount, IN He married Dorothy (Ratliff) Adams July 25, 1948 at the Back Creek Friends Church, she preceded in death January 17, 1991.
He is survived by Four Daughters: Shelly Cummins, Selma, IN Etta (Mick) Alexander, Muncie, IN Lynn (Brock) Adams-Landon, Englewood, CO Diane (Walt) Akert, Leicester, North Carolina One Brother: Milford Adams, Fairmount, IN 2 Grandchildren: Simile (Michael) Miller and Austin (Leah) Alexander 5 Great Grandchildren: Coen, Brooklyn, Nolan, Jessica, and Alara.
He was preceded in death by a Sister; Jane Hall, Brother, Jay Adams and Son-in-law;J. A. Cummins.
