Robert Anton Kierner of Toms River died on 16 January 2022 at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. He was 92 years old. Bob was the son of the late Anton and Teena Kierner. Born in Elizabeth on 30 April 1929, he grew up in Union and attended Union High School.

He was a proud alumnus of Centre College, in Danville, Kentucky. After graduating from Centre in 1952, Bob served as a clerk in the U.S. Army at Fort Totten in Queens.  In 1955, he married Beatrice Di Sturco. The Kierners settled in Clark, where they raised their three children before moving to Toms River in 1988.

Bob worked for many years in the financial industry, first as an office manager for Household Finance Corporation and later for Citibank. After he retired, he worked as a federal census taker in 1990 and 2000 and as a volunteer at the Ocean County Public Library and Community Medical Center.

Bob enjoyed golf, reading, and spending time with family and friends at the Jersey shore. A childhood fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, he became a diehard (if often frustrated) Mets fan and enjoyed watching baseball with Bea. The Kierners were also avid travelers. The family went on at least one vacation every year, and Bob and Bea later traveled with friends and on their own throughout Europe and North America.

Bob is survived by his wife, Beatrice. He also leaves three children: Cynthia Kierner (Thomas Bright) of Washington, D.C.; Robert Kierner Jr. (Sandra) of East Windsor; and Michael Kierner (Ami) of Clark; and three beloved grandchildren: Danielle Kierner of Hamilton; Zachary Bright of Wilmington, North Carolina; and Anders Bright of Philadelphia.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Anton and Teena Kierner, and is survived by a sister, Ruth Schroetter of Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

Bob was fun to be with and he truly enjoyed life. He will be sorely missed.
