Robert James “JC” Cantrell was born in Jacksonville, FL on March 13, 1985 and after a long, courageous battle with a brain tumor, he passed away in his home surrounded by his family on October 28, 2015.

JC was an amazing son, brother, father and grandson and will be missed more than words can describe. He was an incredible person who touched the lives of many. He was an assistant baseball coach at Edward Waters College and former umpire with JUA. JC loved his family, friends and baseball.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Grandma Kay Olliff and Papa James W. Lee, II.

JC is survived by the apple of his eye, his son, Jordan; his mother and father, Susan and Scott; two brothers, Nicholas and Randy (Taylor), his grandparents, “Ginny” Beverly Lee and “Papa” Nick Olliff; aunts, Sandra Hager (Dale) and Edwinna Whitley; uncle, Bill Cantrell (Teresa); best friend, Reginald Johnson II; many special cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A special thank you to Dr. Hilleary Rockwell III, UF Shands Gainesville, Miami Children’s Hospital, UF Proton Therapy Shands Jacksonville, Mayo Clinic Jacksonville and the many nurses, doctors and hospitals across the country that assisted throughout JC’s battle. And a very special thanks to Dr. Stephen Pirris, our family can never thank you enough.
