Robert James Penney passed away on the morning of July 15, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Bob met the difficult health challenges that came with cancer, with the sustained strength and attention of his wife, children and many kind friends.
Although he grew to love the many attributes of South Jersey, Bob, along with his six siblings grew up in Saugus, Massachusetts, just about ten miles North of Boston. In 1986, Bob and his wife Betty moved to Collingswood, NJ where they raised three children, all active in the school system and recreational sports. Bob was involved in the swim meets at Roberts Pool, loved watching his kids compete and valued the many friendships made there.
Though Bob was happy to support Philadelphia professional sports teams, his heart stayed in New England as a Patriots fan. Anyone who knew Bob also appreciated his friendly demeanor. He was quick to smile and made friends very easily.
Bob supported his family and worked every day until last year when he became very ill. He was currently employed by Grace Tarr Corporation originally located in Clarksboro, NJ.
Bob will be sorely missed by his many family members, his wonderful and generous neighbors and many friends. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Penney, son Brian Penney, daughter Rachael McConnell (Tom) and son Matthew Penney (Jennifer Mann). In addition, his grandchildren Tommy McConnell, Ethan and Caelian Penney; his brothers Andrew Penney (Pam), William Penney (Betty), Randy Penney (Sue) and sisters Barbara Cassidy (Bob) and Janet Fortin (David). He was pre-deceased by his brother David Penney (Mary) and his parents Vestella Frances Penney and William Thomas Penney. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who all loved their Uncle Bob.
