Robert James passed away peacefully at a local hospital. He is the brother of Richard Davis, Ronald, Randall, Rolland and Regina Taylor.

ROBERT JAMES JACKSON was born on December 8, 1943 in Watonga, OK to James Henry Jackson and the late Mary Maxine Richardson. In 1946, The Family moved to San Diego, CA, where Robert attended Emerson Elementary, Memorial Junior High and graduated from San Diego High School.

In early 1964, Robert enlisted into the United States Army, where he did a tour of duty in Germany. In 1974, he began working for the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System.

Robert met, fell in love and married Linda Joyce Taylor in 1979. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Brandi Renee Jackson, the apple of his eye. Robert adopted Linda’s two children, Kim and Michael Taylor. He loved and cherished them as his very own. It was a sadness in Robert’s life that all three children preceded him in death. Robert’s life was saved twenty-four years ago when he submitted himself to the Narcotics Anonymous Organization and determined from that time on to live drug free. Through this organization and the many friends he found there, Robert lived out his life, even through the hardest of times, with a peace and serenity that few manage to achieve.

Robert had two “outside” loves in his life, Jazz and track and field. For the last forty years, Robert traveled to the California State track meet with his “track buddies” every June. This June was no exception. He wanted to make one last trip where they could reminisce, make fun of each other and laugh until they almost cried.

The truth is, that wherever Robert went he became a fast and loyal friend. No matter what your background was, where you came from, what you had done, Robert showed unconditional love to all. He was always joyful; the people that surrounded him were constantly rejuvenated through Robert’s extraordinary gifts of humor, warmth, compassion and wisdom.

Robert was also preceded in death by his brother, Russell Taylor and his nephew, Quintin Taylor.

On Saturday, June 8, 2013, Robert James Jackson passed away peacefully at Kaiser Permanente Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory, his brothers, Richard Davis (Margy), Ronald Taylor, Randall Taylor (Kendra) and Rolland Taylor; his sister, Regina Taylor; step-brothers, Donald Taylor and Billy Taylor; son-in-law, Brad Shipley; daughter-in-law, Pebbles Taylor; grandchildren, Eric and Jordan Shipley; special friend, Linda Buggs and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and too many friends to even began to count. Love Ya!
