Robert “Jack” Ross, 90, of Lumberport passed away May 26, 2012 at United Hospital Center, with his family surrounding him. He was born November 8, 1921; the son of the late Cecil Earl and Hazel Maine Lymer Ross. Jack was married, 69 years, to Ruth Gladys Powers Ross, who survives him. Jack is also survived by four sons; Allen R Ross of Bridgeport; Fred W Ross and wife Judy of Salem; Randy E Ross of West Milford; Jody B Ross and wife Dawn of Kincheloe; one daughter; Diane L Higgins and husband Jim of Folsom; ten grandsons; Jason Ross and wife Alison; Dr Scott Ross and wife Tiffany; Tessa Gaunt and husband Ray; Nathan Higgins and wife Phoebe; Jeremy Ross; Jennifer Ross; Travis Ross; Bradley Ross and wife Casey; Brittany Ross; Samantha Ross; fourteen great grandchildren; Brooklyn; Gabriel; Liliana; Erin Taylor; Chloe; Dalton; Dylan; Winter; Cheyene; Logan; Kaylee; Landon; Aubrey; Colton; one sister; Patty Brown and husband Tom of Tampa, FL; sisters-in-law; Hazel Brown of Fairmont; Bonnie Hitt of Bridgeport; brother-in-law and sister-n-law; Dr James Powers and wife Ann of Rockville, MD; special niece; Sheila Martin; special neighbors; Mike and Missy Harbert and family; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Mary Garcia and Pauline Quickle. Jack served in World War II, where he fought in Africa and Italy. Jack was the owner/operator of Ross’s Dairy Farm, Chairman of the Board of Southern States. He also worked at the Clarksburg Cable Company, where he helped string the first television wires in Clarksburg and Bridgeport. He enjoyed farming, sitting on the porch watching cows, sports; most important was WVU football.
