Robert Thomas, 86, of rural Ottawa, passed away, Sunday morning, May 12, 2013 at the LaSalle County Nursing Home.
Robert was born August 12, 1926 in Streator to John C. and Esther C. (Hettel) Thomas. He was a 1944 graduate of Ottawa Township High School. He married Victoria Withrow on February 12, 1960 in the St. Columba Rectory in Ottawa by Msgr. Cleary. He was a farmer all his life in South Ottawa and Fall River Township. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Naplate, St. Mary’s Men’s Club, LaSalle County Farm Bureau, American Angus Society and Lifetime member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Victoria Thomas; two children, John Thomas and Ellen Thomas; two grandchildren, Robb (Jessica) Thomas and Jennifer (Kyle) Olesen; and one great-grandchild, Ashton Thomas. Pallbearers will be Christ, Dave and Robb Thomas, Kevin Calhan, Jennifer and Kyle Olesen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Yasm, Marty and Alan Eddy.
