Quaker Hill – Robert J. Mertz, 66, of Quaker Hill passed away Saturday morning at the Bridebrook Rehabilitation Center in Niantic following a courageous battle.
Robert was born in New York, NY a son to the late Edward J. Mertz and Margaret M. (Gavin) Wood. He was married to his wife Kathleen (Roxbee) Mertz on July 12, 1997. She survives him. Robert served his country honorably as a United States Marine within the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his children Shelbey Lukowitz, Pamela Herbstman, Jason Mertz, Brendan, Thomas and Ernest Boyer, Elizabeth Herbst and Mary Gintick; brothers Edward and John Mertz, James O’Brien; sisters Jeanne LeMieux, Cathy Schultz and Kerry Potenza and fourteen grandchildren.
