Robert J. “Bob” Fluech, 72, of rural Tonica, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born in 1949 in Streator to Walter and Jean (Burns) Fluech. He was a graduate of Lostant High School. Bob married Rose Schafer in 1972. Bob retired from his career at IFP (US Foods) after 32 years of service. He also farmed for the past 29 years for his good friend, Bill Jaegle. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman and was an active member of Marshall County Sportsman’s Club and Sandy Ford Sportsman’s Club, where he enjoyed camping and winning fishing tournaments.

Bob was very proud of his family and continues to be carried with love and respect by Rose and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. All of them have been gifted with Bob’s wisdom, kindness, and love throughout the years. There have been so many lessons learned, and good times had by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Rose; children, Angie (Glenn) Paxton of Marseilles, Becky Schmillen of Lostant, Corinne (Jim) Decker of Olney, Rob (Kathy) Fluech of Lostant, and Connie (Jake) Knopp of Marseilles; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Fluech of LaSalle and Gerard (Connie) Fluech of Indiana; one sister, Ellen Fluech of Toluca; many nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Germaine Sons of Oglesby.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Fluech; his mother and stepfather, Jean and Wayne Fessler; two brothers, Michael and Kevin Fluech; one sister, Mary Wilson; two grandchildren, Michael and Lucas Decker; and his father-in-law, Harold Schafer.
