Robert I. “Bob” Kallman, age 90, longtime resident of Geneva, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Geneva Care Center surrounded by his family.

He was born November 2, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Joel M. and Christine (Danielson) Kallman.

Robert graduated from Glenbard West High School in 1941. He served our country during World War II in the US Army Air Corps in the China-Burma-India theater as a C-47 pilot. Robert began his career in industrial design as a GI Bill On-the-Job trainee at Karstadt Design in Chicago then moved on to Raymond Loewy Associates. He eventually became a full partner at DeFano Kallman Design. The firm designed products for many well known American corporations. Later he was employed by Blitz Corporation designing interior/exterior graphics for reconditioned municipal buses. He enjoyed reading a good book, eating a good meal, gardening and watching the Packers and Cubs. Robert especially appreciated the visual arts. He was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Robert is survived by his children Diane of North Aurora, Jon of Geneva, Catherine Cliffe of River Falls, WI, David (Leanne) of Duncan, SC; grandchildren Morgan Kallman, Austin (Sue) Cliffe, Christine (Rick) Fronek; great grandchildren Amber and Vinnie Mannella; sister Sonja Wiltsey of Wisconsin; beloved friend Pat Midgley of Elburn; and many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife Florence (Domanus) who died in 1991, parents, brothers Albert and Herbert; son-in-law Roger Cliffe; and first wife Maurine (Lutz) who passed in 1965.
