Robert Harold “Bob” Straub, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2020, at his daughter’s home in Draper, Utah.

Bob was born June 26, 1935, in Carlinville, Illinois, to Albert Frederick Straub and Hildagart Sophia Bachmann Straub.  He grew up and attended schools in Seattle, Washington.  He joined the United States Air Force at a young age and served for 20 years.

On August 15, 1959, he married Sylvia Merrill at the base chapel, Evreux-Fauville Air Base, Evreux, France. He and Sylvia were married for 54 years before she passed away on July 14, 2014.  Bob and Sylvia spent their time together in the Military moving to many new places and making many lifelong friends before making their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, after Bob retired from the Air Force. They chose Idaho Falls because it was halfway between both of their home states, Washington and Arizona, and they went back and forth often to take care of aging parents. They knew no one here in Idaho Falls, but had explored the area before retirement and fell in love with it.

Bob worked many different jobs while in the Military, and tried new things after he retired from the Air Force.  His favorite job was working as an athletics and school trip bus driver for Bonneville Joint School District 93.

Bob and Sylvia loved to travel together and did much of it even in their later years. They especially loved traveling back to Europe. Bob loved any type of sports and watched them all. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a very kind and generous man who would do anything for anyone.

On September 24, 2016, Bob married Hulda Neve in Mesquite, Texas.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Hulda Neve of Mesquite, TX; daughter, Kristy (Darrell) Robb of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Kurt (Cheryll) Straub of Brigham City, UT; daughter, Kara Straub of Draper, UT; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Agee of Buckeye, AZ, and JaeDee (Monte) Chamberlain of Kanab, UT; grandchildren, Stephanie (Dustin) Larsen, Steven (Micah) Robb, Lena (Skyler) Schofield, and Brandon Straub; great grandchildren, Branden, Kaylee, Kailyn, Kohen, Stryder, Kai, Lauren, Elise, and Isabella.

He was preceded in death by his parents; younger sister, Ellen Olsen; and first wife, Sylvia Merrill Straub.
