Robert H. “Bobby” Shroyer, 79, Decatur, Alabama passed away March 28, 2010 at his residence. He was born March 17, 1931 in Anderson, Indiana, and resided in Decatur, Alabama since 2000.
Bobby was an avid fan of the Chesterfield Fire and Police Department. He loved to spend time at the station visiting. He enjoyed helping them with Dan’s Fish Frys and collecting money for Jerry’s Kids. He enjoyed walking at the mall, whether it was Mound’s Mall or the mall in Alabama. One of his great enjoyments was attending church camp each summer in Frankfort, Indiana. At 13 years of age, Bobby worked both a morning and evening paper route in Anderson. After many years of delivering papers, he then sold papers at the security gates of Delco Remy. In 1955, he hired in at Delco Remy Division of General Motors in the maintenance department. He faithfully worked there for more than 30 years, retiring in 1986 from maintenance in the general offices at plant 18.
Bobby was a longtime member of Parkview Wesleyan Church in Chesterfield, Indiana. He served as an user there for many years.
He is survived by his brother, Ernest E. & wife Jane Shroyer; one brother-in-law, Robert P. Hines and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Elsea Puckett Shroyer; two brothers, Lewis M. & wife Frances Schroyer and Robert F. Shroyer; and four sisters, Frances P. & husband Theran Hines, Dorothy E. & husband Vance Smith, Mary M. & husband Leroy Hines and Norma E. Hines.
