Robert Guild Arnold, 88, of Durham, beloved husband of Nancy (Turner) Arnold for sixty years, passed away on Saturday, June 28th at Wadsworth Glen. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Herbert and Gladys (Guild) Arnold. Robert had lived in Durham since 1992 and did graduate work at the University of Hartford and University of Connecticut. He taught at Central School in Middletown and worked in the Rocky Hill School System as Assistant Superintendent and then as an Administrator. Robert also worked as a Superintendent of schools in Plainfield, Vermont and Jamestown, RI where he retired. Along with his wife, Robert is survived by his son, Jeffrey R. Arnold and his wife, Rhonda of Hampton, VA; two daughters, Susan D. Arnold of Middletown and Betsey C. Ross and her husband, Roger of Bay City, OR; five grandchildren, Ashley, Jennifer and Kimberly Arnold, James Luurtsema and Nathan Doran and one great grandchild, Kennedy Lazare.
